Tunics are very versatile and can be worn for many different occasions by women of all ages, shapes and sizes. Most women have tunic style dresses in their closets. When buying these items, it is important for a woman to choose the style most flattering for her particular body shape. This should be the first consideration with colors and pattern also being chosen to conceal or reveal flaws and assets.

It is very easy to find colors and styles that appeal due to the wide selection available. Everything from polka dots to stripes and floral patterns are available in a multitude of different colors. Woman have to bear in mind when making a choice that certain patterns, colors and styles attract attention to certain parts of the body whilst others conceal them.

Fabric plays an important part too and should be chosen with various considerations in mind such as the occasion, comfort and again, body type. Cotton is popular and is always cool and comfortable. Silk is elegant and suitable for evening wear. A linen is also cool and classy too.

A tunic dress comes in a variety of lengths. The most common length sits a few inches above the knees. The length chosen usually depends on the height and body shape of the person. For example, one that is too short does not look good on a tall person.

Patterns and colors also have an impact on the look. Bold floral designs look better on taller, thinner people while geometric patterns can help to disguise flaws like larger hips. Smaller patterns look better on shorter women. Pattern and color should also be selected according to the occasion. Darker colors look better at night and for more formal wear.

One of the most important things needed to make a tunic as versatile as possible, is the proper accessories. Accessories offer a way to immediately change the look of such a garment. Adding an eye-catching necklace or pendant can transform it from casual to formal wear. A belt can be added to accentuate the waist. Flats or sandals can be changed to high heels for office or evening wear. Handbags and purses also contribute to pulling a particular look together.

A woman should avoid wearing loose or baggy pants with these garments because they can make her look heavier. Tighter fitting pants balance out a looser, flowing top. Leggings or skinny jeans often compliment such a garment best when it comes to layering.

Tunics work for almost any occasion, whether informal or formal. They also look good on most women, if the right style is chosen to compliment the body shape. Different types of tunics can be viewed to decide which cuts, styles, and patterns work best with a particular body type. When shopping online, choice is narrowed down by filtering according to size, color, brand, occasion, or price range to find what is most suitable.
