Handling the piercing at the beginning is similar as taking care of your little wound. It is important to take good care of the piercing, especially when the fistula has not formed yet. Do not wear too tight or filthy clothing on your new piercings. Your hands must be disinfected before you touch the wound because your hand contains a lot of bacteria.

First thing to consider is for you not to take out the jewelry during its healing period. The wounds can heal faster when you also remove it for a short time. Do not apply any type of ointment as it will only make your wound worst. You should know the best piercing shops in Atlanta or anywhere to have it done.

You have to keep the area dry as possible. Using of ointments can keep the oxygen out and can definitely slow down the healing. Avoid applying any type of make-up, shaving cream, perfumed stuff, strong soap or anything. Do not hand charms from the jewelry until the wound is totally healed.

Do not oversleep on it while it is continuously healing. Too much cleaning can also give you some bad effects. For some reasons, it can totally slow down the act of healing. Do not use those materials such as band-aids because it certainly can prevent proper air circulation. Using it may also cause high level of irritation.

You should also avoid swimming, jacuzzi because the warm surface can harbor bacteria. You have to consider that motor oil, sea life or any children in the water can cause it to be dirty. If you are going in and you doubt if it is clean enough, you can put a sealant before you go in. It can prevent any dirty liquid or substance from getting inside.

Cleaning it after swimming or performing any activity may not be effective at all to get rid of infection. You need to be considerate in sharing body fluids during oral contact because it can trigger infection. Any fluid like sweat is not totally harmful but you need to clean it very well. You must also wash your hand before you touch it.

You should wear breathable and clean fabric around the area of the piercing. Avoid wearing clothing around it to avoid affecting its condition. The bedding must be totally clean all the time as well. You should also leave the starter jewelries in for the minimum healing time.

Having a healthy lifestyle is also required for it to heal faster than the usual. As much as possible, you have to stay away from drugs and alcohol. You should also get rid of stress and eat plenty of nutritious foods to experience the benefits. You have to consider having a shower than taking a bath. Having a bath may lead to production of bacteria.

If you really like to take a bath, be sure to clean it first with a bleaching product every time before you use it. Rinse it with water and when you get out of it, you should rinse the wound with water. Using of cleaning solution is highly encouraged as well. Clean it twice a day during the period and avoid cleaning it too much because it may cause irritation.
